Cici is a sculptor who works with things often overlooked. Flea markets, scrap yards, and walks in the woods provide a bountiful supply of materials. Her work highlights the connections between the natural world and industrial environment. She is particularly interested in the process of decay– how structures change over time, and how natural forces like oxidation and condensation disfigure and transform objects– evidence of the divine nature of the world we inhabit.

For the past 15 years, Cici's sculptural installations have sprouted up in galleries, storefront windows, and outbuildings across North Carolina, and she has presented active installations in mountain streams in Wyoming and Vermont.  Closer to home, Cici collaborated with students to create a fantasy entryway for Raleigh's Contemporary Art Museum, and worked with clients to transform 12 rooms at The Durham Center.

Cici was selected as a NC Visiting Artist (1986-90), and has received grants from the Durham Arts Council, Alternate Roots, and the NC Arts Council. She has designed sets for choreographers including David Dorfman, and is currently working with Ava LaVonne Vinesett on a site-specific, danced installation. She has been awarded residencies at Western Carolina University, the Vermont Studio Center, and Jentel Foundation.
