My name is William Reichard and I’m a poet and educator. I’m the author of four collections of poetry, the most recent being This Brightness (Mid-List Press, 2007). I teach college-level interdisciplinary seminars on art, writing, and social justice for the Higher Education Consortium for Urban Affairs, a national consortium of colleges and universities based in Saint Paul, MN.

I’m donating a hand-made artist book to the Honoring the Earth Series because I believe in the great necessity for this project. My own work in art, social justice, and social change causes has shown me, time and again, the intrinsic connection between art and social change. This project touches on two primal forces within all of us: a love for the earth from which we sprang, and a need to creatively express something of ourselves, of our unseen, inner lives. I’m honored to be a part of this project because I loved Kitty Couch; she was my friend for many years, and she helped me to see through to the light.
