Kitty Couch was an inspiration and mentor, and I enjoyed many conversations with her about art and life. In particular, she was supportive in my search for the figurative mother image. This painting, Florine’s Purse, is a composite of my grandmother and mother held up by my sister and me. We are on our way to deliver her back to the earth. In my art work, I continue to look for the lost mothers. In this journey, I feel Kitty by my side.
