Jean Woodall is an Atlanta based massage therapist, yoga and laughter yoga teacher, aerial dancer, storyteller and artist. Jean studied graphic arts at Auburn University in the '60's. She discovered Penland in the '70's, where she played with glass, cloisonné enameling and porcelain handbuilding. In the '80's and 90's Jean switched to healing arts, focusing on massage and movement. When Jean returned to visual art in 2001, she had become freer and had a special affinity for working with the human form. Since she returned to Penland in 2002, Jean has been a sometimes art student and sometimes movement teacher there. It was the year before Kitty died, when Jean took "Ticky Tacky Art for the Soul" from Pinkie Bass and Kitty Couch. Kitty's art and soul were special for Jean and she welcomes this opportunity to give back to the spirit of Kitty and the North Carolina Mountains which she has come to love. |
