When asked about her reasons for bidding, Jane Levy said: “I once saw Kitty’s work in a museum show and was awed by it. When I learned that her daughter, Katie Breckheimer, was auctioning one of her mother’s works for the benefit of land conservation in Western North Carolina, I knew I had to participate.
Moved to give more, Jane Levy said: “Such a gesture on Katie’s part can only motivate more of the same, and Richard and I will be making a contribution to the Piedmont Land Conservancy in Greensboro as a result. I have a feeling Kitty would be so pleased to know that her Earth Series piece not only represents beauty, but inspires a generosity of spirit from the next generation.”
