Biography:
Constance Schulze has worked as a school psychologist for over 30 years and
has been a singer and musician since she was five years old. The transition
into visual arts and to the medium of metals has been a passion-filled journey.
Inspiration for her work floods her from all directions—from trees and land
forms to buildings and bridges—all translate from the jeweler’s bench and
promise infinite possibilities.
Inspiration for the piece:
For this show I have created “American Beech,” which is a part of my tree series.
It is a labor of love to support land preservation and honor the life of Kitty Couch
and her beautiful organic forms with my own work inspired by shapes from the
natural world. Hand sawed sterling silver forms the tree, which is riveted onto
annealed copper. The chain is sterling silver.
